Portrait photography on 35mm film
I'm Joseph, a portrait photographer working across Surrey and London, based in the Surrey Hills. I photograph people the way film sees them — warm, honest and unhurried. No studio strobes, no endless identical frames: we go for a walk, find good light, and make portraits you'll actually want on your wall.
Individual portraits, creative headshots, milestone birthdays or just because — I shoot across Surrey and London, and I'm always happy to travel when the shoot calls for it.
How a portrait shoot works
A location that means something — your street, a favourite park, the Surrey Hills, the river. Good light beats a studio every time.
One or two rolls of film — 36 considered frames, not 800 to wade through.
Scanned negatives + edited images — delivered digitally, with prints available of any frame.

How much does a portrait shoot cost?
Pricing depends on where we shoot, how long we need and how many images you're after. Message me with what you have in mind and I'll quote it straight — no rigid packages to squeeze into.
How long does a portrait shoot take?
Usually an hour or two. Long enough to walk somewhere good, warm up, and forget the camera is there.
What should I wear?
Whatever you feel most like yourself in. Film loves texture and muted colour, but comfort photographs better than anything else.
How long until I get the photos?
Around two to three weeks. The film has to be developed and scanned before even I can see it — that wait is part of the deal.
Do you shoot digital too?
Not for portraits. Shooting only on film is the whole point of Rossi35.
